ETZ21 firmware can now be updated via camera

Big News for ETZ21 Users!

ETZ21 users now have the opportunity to unlock the full potential of their adaptor. Access the latest and future firmware enhancements via camera. Enjoy the convenience of wireless firmware updating method and many more future firmware upgrades by following the steps below. Watch our video tutorial to easily access this feature.

Note: If you have already updated to a Linking Firmware once, please proceed to step 9.

  1. Prepare a Micro USB cable clip and a Windows/MAC computer.
  2. Download the Linking Firmware.
  3. Unzip the file if it is in zip format. If the file is in .bin format it’s already ready to use.
  4. Connect the adapter to your computer and a new drive will appear. Do NOT need to remove the original file.
  5. In Windows computers, the original implanted firmware will show as a 0 KB file; in Mac computers, the original implanted firmware does not show.
  6. Copy and paste the firmware you unzipped into the drive. (Do not change the BIN file name)
  7. Eject the drive (VERY important step).
  8. Unplug the USB cable and the upgrade is completed.
  9. Next, download the latest available firmware.
  10. Unzip the file if it is in zip format. If the file is in .bin format it’s already ready to use.
  11. Copy the .bin file and paste it onto the top directory of a formatted XQD/CF/SD card. Do NOT change the name of the .bin file.
  12. Mount the ETZ21 and a AF lens (Sony mount) onto the camera.
  13. Insert the card into the camera.
  14. Go to ‘Setup Menu’ -> ‘Firmware Version’ -> ‘Update’. Do not switch off the camera while updating.

Notice: Handling the Megadap ETZ21

1) No ‘Hot Switch’ of lenses.
Always switch OFF the camera before you remove the lens or the adapter
2) No touching on connecting pins/pads
Do NOT touch the connecting pad/pins with your bare hands. Static electricity produced may damage the electronic components in the adapter
3) Leave the adapter on camera
When you swap between different E-mount lenses, switch off the camera and leave the ETZ21 on the camera. Then unmount and mount another E-mount lens.
4)Don’t turn the lens+adapter frequently
Do not turn the lens+adapter back and forth frequently when camera is on or off.
